The competition
rescheduled 28-31 December in Tunisia
Cairo,
Egypt, October 29, 2008- The African volleyball
confederation (CAVB) rescheduled the 2008 Girls Youth
African Nations Championship for the players, born on
1st of January 1992 or after to be held 28-31 December
2008.
The competition which was supposed to be held in Tunisia
from 18-26 September 2008, and has been postponed
because of scholar circumstances will be qualifying to
the 2009 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship in Mexico.

Egypt, October 11, 2008- CAVB technical commission had a
fruitful meeting in the CAVB Headquarters headed by the African
Volleyball Confederation President Dr. Amr Elwani and produced a
successful plan for the sport to be applied at Both CAVB and
National Federation levels. The meeting was attended by CAVB
vice Presidents Mr. Baba Sy and Louis Majore Timba, the board
member Abdelhadi Ghzali, CAVB referee commission president
Hassan Ahmed and CAVB technical director Mrs. Howyda Mondy.

World Championships: Drawing of lots completed in Turin
Turin,
Italy, September 28, 2008 – The drawing of lots for the
2010 FIVB Men’s and Women’s World Championships’
preliminary rounds took place in Turin, Italy, on
Monday.
The teams which will participate in the first-, second-
and third-round preliminary tournaments have now been
allocated their groups for what is set to be the most
successful World Championships in FIVB history, with a
record 214 national teams registered to take part. |

Egypt for their seventh title
Tunis,
Tunisia, August 30, 2008- Tunisia added a new title
under their built after they cruised past Egypt in
straight sets in the final of the 2008 Men’s Junior
African Nations Championship here at Sidi Bousaid Hall
in Tunis, Tunisia on Saturday to win their seventh cup
in the history of this age category.

women defeated the African representatives
Beijing,
August 16, 2008 – Russia men and women teams took over
the African representatives Egypt men and Russia women
in tough matches of the fourth day of the preliminary
round of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Russia overcame
Egypt in straight sets (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) at the
Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium. Russia women
also sailed to an easy straight set win (25-14, 25-19,
25-10) over unfenced Algeria in just one hour in Pool B. |

determined the organizers of the 2009 competitions and approved the
Technical Plan.
Cairo, Egypt, November 9, 2008- the African Volleyball confederation
(CAVB) held its ordinary meeting in Cairo, Egypt 7- 8 November 2008
presided by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani where many fruitful
decisions for the progress and support of the sport were taken.
The board chooses the organizers of the 2009 CAVB competitions as
Egypt will host the Men’s African Clubs champions championship in
April with Tunisia as a substitute, while Kenya will host the
Women’s African Clubs Champions Championship in April with Tunisia
also as substitute. Both competitions will be qualifying to the 2009
World club championship. |

Ould Ammar signed to Sete of France
Alger,
Algeria, October 6, 2008- The Algerian National team
setter Lyes Ould Ammar signed a new professional
contract with the French team of Argo- Sete (Pro A)
after he passed a successful career with another French
club Grenoble. The new club includes also three foreign
players from Czech Republic, Canada and Australia.

qualified to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games for the
first time in their history. .

Algeria, August 1, 2008- Algeria volleyball federation in
collaboration with the Algerian communications arranged a beach
volleyball competition in the occasion of the memorial of the
previous Algerian international volleyball player and also the
beach volleyball player in 2004 Riad Boufedji.
The competition was for men and women categories and for all age
categories and included also a separate competition for the
veteran players supervised by the Ministry of sports. The Men’s
final showed the double Chabni and Smallah winning the final 2-0
(21-18, 21-18). |

Norway Angola’s Morais Abreu and Emanuel Fernandes set goals
that appeared to be both easy and hard.
The first goal was to improve the awareness of Beach Volleyball
in their country by working with “young and old” alike to
educate their fellow compatriots about the sport. The second
goal was to play in the Beijing 2008 Olympics by competing for
an African spot in the Summer Games by participating on the
SWATCH FIVB World Tour. |
